Emily is a Researcher and Project Manager in the Lindau Lab. She earned her Master’s in Public Health from San Diego State University and has been with the Lindau Lab since 2009. She provides epidemiological and statistical support for research projects and supervises the undergraduate research staff in the Lindau Lab. She oversees the research and programmatic efforts of the Program in Integrative Sexual Medicine for Women and Girls with Cancer (PRISM), and supports Dr. Lindau on her collaboration with the VIRGO and TRIUMPH studies. Emily also provides support for the South Side Health & Vitality Studies helping with research and grant writing.

Kelly Boyd

Kelly joined the Lindau Lab in August of 2016 as the Database Manager. She is a recent graduate of Loyola University Chicago with a BS in Bioinformatics. As an undergrad, Kelly worked in the areas of evolution and genetics, data organization, and computer science. Her interests include civic technology and using technology to increase people’s autonomy over their body, environment, and overall well-being.

Megan DePumpo, AM

Megan joined the team in August 2015 as the Research Operations and Projects Manager. Megan’s background and passion is deeply rooted in public health equity having worked in multiple community health settings in Boston, Chicago, and abroad. While completing her Master’s degree, she worked with the Public Policy team at Donors Forum on various state and federal social policy issues and engagement. Megan holds a B.A. in English and Women’s & Gender Studies from Boston College and an A.M. from the University of Chicago.

Senxi Du

Senxi is a recent graduate from the University of Chicago with a BA in the Biological Sciences. She began as a research assistant with the Lab in October 2015 and joined as a full-time employee in July 2016. She enjoys the wide variety of jobs she gets to do as a member of the Special Projects Team and appreciates learning from the Lab’s creative approaches to community health. She is very interested in the social determinants of health, particularly food access and nutrition disparities, and the roles these factors play in perpetuating health inequities.

Leilani Douglas

Leilani is an undergraduate Public Policy major in the College. She joined the Lindau Lab as a research volunteer in January 2016 and previously worked as a Lead Field Coordinator for the former South Side Health and Vitality Studies research project and current 501c3, MAPSCorps. In her free time, Leilani volunteers as a sexual health educator with the nonprofit Peer Health Exchange and performs with her on campus theater troupe, Iris. Working in the Lab has allowed her to explore the intersections of her interest in community health, policy research, and clinical medicine.

Gillian Feldmeth

Gillian joined the Lindau Lab in December 2013 and works as the Special Projects Team Manager to support the Special Projects Team in all aspects of research in the areas of urban health, population health, female sexuality, and sexuality and aging. Gillian also works as a Patient Educator with the Program in Integrative Sexual Medicine (PRISM) providing basic education to patients and supporting the PRISM clinical operations and research protocol. She graduated from Northwestern University in 2013 with a major in Social Policy and minors in Global Health and Political Science. Previously, Gillian has conducted research on global contraceptive care access and policy and interned at a health care advocacy coalition in Washington D.C. and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Region V Office for the Building a Healthier Chicago Initiative.

Natalia S. Gavrilova, PhD

Natalia’s background is in computer science, anthropology, and biodemography. Her current research interests involve biodemography of aging and longevity, centenarian studies, and application of new web-based computer technologies to biomarker studies. Natalia assists in the Chicago biomarker workshop organization. She is currently working on CCBAR website content and dynamic functionality.

Jessica Jerome, PhD

Jessica is a medical anthropologist with a background in urban health, health care rights and health care reform in Brazil and the United States. She helps with qualitative research projects at the lab, and teaches in the Health Sciences Department at DePaul University.

Jennifer Makelarski, PhD, MPH

Jennifer is the Director of Epidemiology and Research Training for the South Side Health & Vitality Studies. She earned her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Iowa. Jennifer has been with SSHVS since 2009 and provides epidemiological and biostatistical support for a number of research studies. She also oversees training opportunities for individuals interested in gaining research experience by working with SSHVS. Her research interests include reproductive epidemiology, health disparities, and translational research

Chenab Navalkha

Chenab works on data visualization, research support and research dissemination on the Special Projects Team. She also works as a Patient Educator with the Program in Integrative Sexual Medicine (PRISM). She graduated from the University of Chicago in 2013, where she majored in Biology and Philosophy and focused on ethics in healthcare and the physician-patient relationship. Chenab previously served as a non-profit management fellow through New Sector Alliance and worked in public affairs research at ASGK Public Strategies.

Kelsey Paradise

Kelsey joined the Lindau Lab in December of 2015 and manages Feed1st operations, connects with community members as the Community Health Information Specialist (CHIS), and coordinates research and administrative efforts of the lab in the realms both urban health and female sexuality efforts. Her research background includes work with indigenous populations, traditional ethnomedicine, rural clinic management, and cultural competency training. Kelsey received her Bachelor’s degree in Medical Anthropology and minor in Spanish and Hispanic Studies from Creighton University in 2014. Upon graduation, she served as the Coordinator of Volunteer Resources and Clinic Manager for the non-profit Floating Doctors in Bocas del Toro, Panama.

Jerlinda G. C. Ross, MD, MS

Jerlinda joined the Lindau Lab in October 2015 and is currently in her first year of gynecologic oncology fellowship at the University of Chicago.  She joined the Lindau Lab to focus on the health care/social inequities within the city of Chicago among women suffering from gynecologic cancers.  Jerlinda completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Indiana University School of medicine in Indianapolis.  She earned her MD from Duke University.  She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama.  She completed her undergraduate training at Tuskegee University.  Subsequently, she earned a master of science in genetic epidemiology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis where she focused on the genetic admixture and ethnic disparities in hypertensive related heart disease.
